What do you mean by "heavy pulsed current draw"? You need to
put numbers on all these things.
Incidentally, if you don't have numbers, I recommend getting a
clamp-around DC ammeter (yes, these exist, and cost about $100)
and finding out. I've found that to be a very useful instrument
in robotics work.
