Lego Mindstorm NXT documentation

Are there more detailed specifications on the Mindstorm NXT? In working
with NeXT Byte Codes, I would like to better understand the interface to the
various components. Any links would be appreciated.

According to a Lego Press release, Lego will be releaseing an SDK for
the main software in August
